Welcome to the Website for the Association for Shared Parenting

The Association for Shared Parenting (ASP) exists to promote the rights of children to the nurture of both parents after separation or divorce and to encourage and support parents in the fulfilment of that right.

ASP is a registered charity whose work involves giving support and advice to fathers and mothers who are worried about the welfare of their children after a separation or divorce.

Most commonly, ASP's advice surrounds issues central to Family Law such as: parental responsibility - PR, contact, residence, joint residence, PAS, the Children's Act and most other matters which may arise in the family court.

ASP's strength lies in the face-to-face contact and telephone contact it offers to both members and non-members alike.

Domestic Violence:

  • CAFCASS has recently undertaken a consultation exercise on Domestic Violence.
  • Click here to read A.S.P's response.

Highlights:

  • One of our very valued members of ASP is conducting an anonymous survey as part of his under-graduate studies at University; the survey seeks to capture the experiences of non-resident parents and their opinion of how they were treated by 'the System' post-separation. Click here to access the survey.

  • Click here to read "The Cuckoo in the Nest", an ASP article which looks at how the current Children's Act 1989 is unfortunately ".....not working as intended".
  • Click here to read what a currently practising Family Law solicitor has to say about what he sees as the shortcomings of the current System and what should be the way forward.
  • Also, go to the Activities & Events page to read about ASP's recent Annual AGM and also about Graham's recent visit to the meeting of the new CAFCASS Service User's Group.

Media Appeals:

From time to time A.S.P. is contacted by members of the press and media appealing for vounteers from interested parties to take part in research or programme events:
